A red and blue car are on the starting line at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, TX.

Situated about 40 miles south of Dallas in Ennis, TX, is the Texas Motorplex. This quarter-mile drag racing facility was built in 1986 and was the first super track recognized by the National Hot Rod Association. It was also the first all-concrete stadium-style drag racing venue and has has been the home to many world record performances.

Our team of auto experts here at Frank Kent Chevrolet loves to attend the races at the Texas Motorplex. In preparation for the upcoming calendar of events for 2020, we decided to put together a handy list of things you need to know in order to plan your perfect trip to the Texas Motorplex.

Outside Food, Drinks, and Cameras

While tailgating may be a major part of Texas culture with football games, this isn’t necessarily the case with the Texas Motorplex. Outside food, drinks, and coolers are not allowed inside the facility. However, you can get a hand stamp and go out to your car to eat your lunch.

Cameras and video camcorders are allowed and encouraged. Your experience at the Motorplex should be captured for you to relive later or share with your friends on social media.

Parking

During the AAA Texas NHRA Fall Nationals, parking is free. There is also available parking and assistance for handicapped people, and folks with motorhomes can park in the far east corner of the lot. There is a roped off, designated area for motorhomes. Please keep in mind that 18-wheelers are not permitted to park on the premises.

First Aid

Typically, there are two first aid stations set up inside the Motorplex. The first is located near the concession offices on the spectator side, and the second one is situated behind the souvenir building on the pit side.

Lost and Found

If you find something that was left behind that doesn’t belong to you, you can turn it in at the Lost and Found located in the front offices. Needless to say, if you think you have lost something, you should check with the Lost and Found to see if a good Samaritan rescued it for you.

Alcohol

To quench your thirst, you can purchase beer in three locations. The first is one the spectator’s side, the second is on the pit side, and the third is in the Champion’s Club. Alcohol cannot be taken outside of the licensed premises or into the pit area. You can take your beer into the north or south stands and over into the Finish Line seating area. If you happen to come across an area in which alcohol is prohibited, you will notice signage that indicates this.

Miscellaneous Items

You can bring binoculars, scanners, bags, purses, backpacks, flags, strollers, headsets, and seat cushions into the facility. However, you should note that these items may be subject to inspection. Also, flags cannot be on poles and cannot be large enough to obstruct the view of other spectators. The tiny flags on little wooden sticks are allowed.

Prohibited items include firearms, fireworks, and weapons of any sort. Glass, metal, or aluminum containers are also not permitted, and you can’t bring in umbrellas, inline skates, scooters, bicycles, skateboards, or wagons. As mentioned before, no outside food or drink is allowed either.

Animals

Unfortunately, pets are not permitted inside the facility.
