Got a New Car? Show It off at a Local Tailgate!

A group of people in orange are grilling at a tailgate party.

Usually, when customers purchase one of our vehicles, they talk about how their first activity with their new car will involve them driving miles and miles. Sure, we get that, but that’s not all that fun, right? Instead, if you’ve just purchased a vehicle from Frank Kent Chevrolet, we’d suggest showing off your new car, truck, or SUV at a local tailgate!

Whether you’re trekking to a Cowboys’ game, Texans’ game, or one of the many, many college games in the state, a tailgate is a great way to kick off your adventure! What better way to enjoy your brand-new purchase than accompanying it with some food, beer, and football?

Of course, for every tailgate, there’s just some gear that you simply can’t go without. We have plenty of experience with parking lot parties, and we’ve detailed some of our top tailgate must-haves below.

Drink and Be Happy

Depending on who you’ll be rooting for, you’ll definitely want to get your drink on before the game starts. Fortunately, there are a number of useful accessories that are worth opting for, and they’ll each make your tailgate experience an absolute blast!

For those who prefer beer, the Bevometer will assure that you’re enjoying your favorite beverage without overindulging. The device can detect each time a new beverage is inserted, allowing you to track how many brews you’ve thrown down. Plus, the accessory in insulated, meaning you can keep that beer cool and tasty. At only $15, this is a great way to assure that you have fun while still getting the most out of the game.

Are you a wino? Then you should consider opting for the Vino2Go, which will prevent any of those pesky wine stains from getting on your favorites team’s jersey. The pseudo-sippy-cup keeps the wine secured in the plastic container, meaning you can participate in all pre-game activities without a single spill. Selling at $13, this is a necessity for anyone who’s (understandably) wary of bringing a wine glass to a stadium parking lot.

Lounging

If you’ve ever attended a tailgate, you’re familiar with the lack of seating. Sure, you can hang out inside of your vehicle, but doesn’t that defeat the purpose of attending the tailgate? Fortunately, there are several lounging options that you can choose from as you’re looking to optimize your tailgating experience.

Now, most people will think they can get away with a simple lawn or beach chair, but we all know that these options don’t provide a whole lot of comfort. If you’re looking to relax during your tailgate, then you should consider the innovative Briefcase Travel Couch. This clever amenity can be compacted in a briefcase, meaning you won’t have to reconfigure your vehicle’s interior in an attempt to squeeze it in. The foam construction will provide you with an opportunity to rest (or potentially sneak in a nap) before the impending game. At $120, this will be a purchase that you’ll get plenty of use out of.

If you’re looking to stand out from the crowd, you should also look at the tailgate hammock, which hangs a pair of comfy seats from the back of your vehicle. The three-piece system is easy to put together and take down, and you’ll surely be the star of any pre-game party thanks to this creative amenity. The $350 price tag is a bit pricey, but it’ll definitely be worth it when all is said and done.

Snack Away

We’re sure you’ve found yourself in the unwinnable situation of trying to juggle a can of beer and a plate of food. If the edible options require a fork, then you’re seemingly out of luck. However, by opting for the Go Plate, all of your issues will be solved. This plate can fit snug over a bottle or can, meaning you can juggle your drink and food with only one hand. That way, you can continue to enjoy your game of corn hole without missing out on some of that necessary fuel. At $19, this is a feature you won’t want to miss out on.

If you tend to take on the role of the chef during a tailgate, then you’ll definitely need the Food Survival Kit. These tubes contain all of the spices you could possibly need as you’re cooking up some hot dogs, burgers, or whatever else you can throw on a grill. Instead of lugging all of your spices from your home kitchen, this clever invention allows you to have all of your cooking necessities in one spot.

Finally, if you’re looking to prevent any illnesses (and, honestly, who isn’t), then the Thermapen is a perfect choice. Simply stick the device’s needle into any piece of meat to determine whether it’s been thoroughly cooked. That way, instead of overcooking the protein in an attempt to avoid any illnesses, you can assure that your meat is perfect!

Partying

There are several miscellaneous tailgate must-haves that can play a role in your overall enjoyment of the day. For instance, have you accounted for the unpredictable Texas weather? If you suddenly find yourself in the middle of a storm, then an L.L. Bean waterproof blanket will keep you dry and comfy. While everyone else will run to their vehicle to hide, you can continue to enjoy the fresh air (plus, you can better prepare for once you get into the stadium).

What about music? A Bluetooth speaker (like the WONDERBOOM portable, waterproof speaker) will allow you to jam out to your favorite tunes (or listen to any pre-game radio coverage). Of course, if you end up opting for a relatively new car at one of our dealerships, we’d suggest relying on some of the incredible built-in sound systems.

Finally, you’ve got to show off your fandom, especially if you’re visiting an opponent’s stadium. Consider buying an inflatable team helmet, and you’ll definitely want to be rocking one of your favorite player’s jerseys. If you really want to get creative, you can wear a suit that definitively shows off your team affiliation.

We primarily looked at some creative tailgate amenities above, but it’s important to remember some of the absolute necessities. Specifically, DO NOT FORGET THE FOOD AND BEER. Otherwise, you’re going to be digging into your bank account to afford that stadium food.

If you’re going to be drinking all day, you’ll also want to behave responsibly. As we mentioned, we’re big into community, and we’d hate to see any of our fellow fans get hurt.

Otherwise, if you prepare for the upcoming game with many of the products listed above, then you’ll be more-than-prepared for the greatest tailgate excursion yet!
