The 2021 Chevy Trailblazer is making waves across the auto industry for being a spacious compact crossover that can handle both urban life and off-roading. With five trims to choose from and a starting price point set at $19,000, it is the perfect Dallas SUV. Seating and Cargo Room
As a compact SUV, the new Chevy Trailblazer seats five people. Behind the back row is a cargo area that measures approximately 25 cubic feet. That’s ample space for such a petite ride. If you find that you need more room, you can simply fold the back row of seating down flat to expand the area to 54.4 cu.ft.
The key to creating a well-liked compact crossover is to provide enough power for adventures while still keeping the fuel economy high. No one likes a gas-guzzler anymore. That’s why the engineers at Chevrolet decided to give the new Chevy Trailblazer two powertrain options. You can choose the one that is best suited to your daily driving style.
The standard powertrain uses a turbocharged 1.2-liter 4-cylinder engine, FWD, and a continuously variable transmission (CVT). It generates 137 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. The other option is a 1.3-liter 4-cylinder engine coupled with AWD and a 9-speed automatic transmission. The estimated fuel economy for the Trailblazer is set at 28 MPG combined (26 city/30 highway).
All About the Features
The most attractive thing about the new Chevy Trailblazer is that it comes exceptionally well equipped, even on the base model. All five trims include an extensive list of tech and safety features, making this one of the best options available at such an affordable price point.
First, let’s look at the standard infotainment interface. Displayed on a large 7-inch touchscreen, the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 System comes equipped on every new Trailblazer. The monitor showcases the video feed from the rearview camera and all of your entertainment features. It comes with Bluetooth connectivity and compatibility with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. This allows you to stream your favorite playlist seamlessly, use apps, make calls, and even send text messages all hands-free. What’s even better is that you can sync two mobile devices at the same time.
Next, we can take a peek at the advanced safety features that come with every model. Teen Driver Technology is a great one for families with children who are ready to learn how to drive. You will get a steady report card that shows you where your teen driver is excelling and where he or she might need additional training. This system also disables the stereo until the seatbelt is fastened, and you can set speed and volume limits. Another nifty child safety feature is the rear seat reminder system. This will alert you to look in the back of the vehicle before exiting.
Other safety features include a rearview camera, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, and a following distance indicator. All of these features work in unison to help prevent accidents on the road. Some of these operations may not work at speeds above 50 mph. Remember, just because you have these handy safety systems doesn’t mean that you can divert your attention from driving. Always be alert when you are behind the wheel of a moving vehicle.
2020 Chevy Trailblazer L
As we touched on before, there are five trims that you may choose from. The first is known as the L. This model includes all of the standard infotainment and safety features mentioned previously. It also has LED daytime running lights for optimized visibility. Riding on 16-inch steel wheels, this model features black front/back fascias, a manual liftgate, and a 16-inch spare tire.
You can listen to your favorite music via the 4-speaker stereo, and a 4G LTE Wifi hotspot has also been added to keep you connected everywhere you go. The driver’s seat is manually adjustable six ways, and the 40/60 split-folding back seats can be configured in various ways easily.
2020 Chevy Trailblazer LS
Next is the LS model, which rolls on larger 17-inch aluminum wheels and has the same exterior features as the L base model. On the inside, you will notice the fold-flat front passenger seat that can be used to expand the cargo area. The tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel features audio controls, and the stereo gets two additional speakers for a total of six. All of the other features from the L model carry over.
2020 Chevy Trailblazer LT
The mid-level LT version of the Trailblazer begins to add luxury features such as heated seats for comfort during the winter. Remote start technology is another added convenience feature as well. On the outside, the LT includes 17-inch aluminum wheels painted black, fog lamps for enhanced visibility, and roof rails for extra storage space. The front and back fascias have been upgraded from black to silver, and you have the option to add a panoramic sunroof and a hands-free programmable liftgate.
2020 Chevy Trailblazer ACTIV
Athletic families can rejoice! The new Chevy Trailblazer ACTIV is the perfect model to keep up with your busy schedule. Whether you are running errands or dropping the kids off at extracurricular activities, this model can handle your daily pace. It has been equipped with all-terrain tires for better off-roading, and it features dual exhaust. The larger grille, two-tone roof, LED taillights, and titanium chrome-plated front/back fascias add a different style to the outside, and the inside has seen some changes as well.
Since this is a top-ranking trim level, there are a few more luxury touches in the cabin. For example, the upholstery has been upgraded from cloth to leatherette, and both the steering wheel and shift knob have been wrapped in leather.
2020 Chevy Trailblazer RS
The top-of-the-line luxury trim is known as the RS. This model rides on larger 18-inch unidirectional aluminum wheels done in gloss black. The front and rear fascias have also gone back to black, and many of the LT’s exterior features carry over to the RS. Inside the cabin, you will notice a luxury/sporty fusion of styles with the combination of cloth and leatherette upholstery and red accent stitching. The traditional steering wheel has been replaced by a flat-bottom steering wheel for more of a racecar vibe. As a stand-alone option, you can upgrade the stereo system to a 7-speaker Bose sound system if you want.
