SUV Preview: 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer
My name is not Marty McFly and I did not just arrive here in a DeLorean time machine. I am not a clairvoyant, and I do not own a Ouija board or a crystal ball. I may own a Magic 8-ball, but all it does is “help” me with yes or no questions. However, I have seen the future of the small SUV, and it is the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer. The folks at General Motors have already given Chevrolet one of the most versatile and diverse lines of SUVs in the market. The lineup of Chevy SUVs from large to small includes the Suburban, the Tahoe, the Traverse, the Blazer, the Equinox, and the Trax.
Now, as we are barely into the new calendar in 2020, Chevy is set to introduce the all-new 2021 Trailblazer. This aptly named small SUV is all ready to be a trend-setter in its vehicle class, and a game-changer in the automotive industry. It combines all the benefits of a compact SUV, such as maneuverability, with a surprisingly roomy and luxurious interior. As Chevy puts it, you can live big in this small SUV. The 2021 Chevy Trailblazer will be rolling into town soon, and when it arrives, you can see one for yourself here at Frank Kent Chevrolet. We are open Monday through Saturday here in Ennis, Texas. Conveniently located at 401 South Interstate 45, we are family owned and operated, proudly serving the great state of Texas since 1935.
Five Different Trim Levels to Choose From
The 2021 Chevy Trailblazer is estimated to have a starting MSRP of less than $20,000. That is an incredibly affordable price for a vehicle that offers so many features, roominess, and luxury. The base model will be the Trailblazer S, and it will come with standard front safety technologies and LED signature daytime running lights. Most competitors in its class skimp on the safety features for its entry-level models, so this is a very welcome feature of the all-new Trailblazer.
The next trim level up is the LS, and it will add a flat-folding passenger seat to improve cargo storage, and 17-inch painted aluminum wheels. As someone who carries a great deal of stuff around during the day, I can personally attest to the need for this flat-folding seat feature. The Trailblazer LT will feature roof rails to allow for transporting stuff on top of the SUV, fog lamps, heated seats, and remote start. Those last two are great during the winter when you really want to get into a nice warm and toasty vehicle.
The Trailblazer Activ is set to be the sportiest one in the line-up of trims, and will come with dual exhaust, a cool two-tone roof, rugged sport terrain tires, and leatherette seats. I can’t wait to test drive an Activ in off-roading conditions.
The top-of-the-line will be the Trailblazer RS, and Chevy did not skimp on the details with this one. It will feature 18-inch machined-aluminum wheels with black inserts, cloth/leatherette seats with red accents, and a flat-bottom leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Chevy will Set the Standard with Safety Features
As mentioned above, Chevy has given the all-new 2021 Chevy Trailblazer a whole host of standard safety features. These might be the most comprehensive list of standard safety features for a vehicle in its class. This includes an automatic emergency braking system that engages the brakes if the system detects an imminent front-end collision, preventing or reducing the severity of a crash. The forward collision alert will also warn you if it detects that you are too close to the vehicle in front of you.
The front pedestrian braking system works in a similar fashion, warning you if it detects a pedestrian in front of you, and applying the brakes automatically in an effort to avoid striking the pedestrian. If you or a driver in your family has the bad habit of tailgating, the following distance indicator will warn that you are driving too close to the car in front of you. One of the best features is the lane keep assist with lane departure warning. I was recently driving late at night on a dark interstate, and this feature on my current Chevy helped keep my SUV on the straight and narrow throughout the trip.
The new Trailblazer will also feature a standard rear vision camera, a rear-seat reminder, and Teen Driver technology. If you are like me and have a new driver in the family, then you are going to love the Chevy Teen Driver technology. You can use this to mute the audio on the Chevy Infotainment 3 system until all front-seat passengers have buckled up. It also makes sure to automatically turn on the Trailblazer’s advanced safety technologies. Best of all, Teen Driver will act as a chaperone for the young driver in the family, providing you with an in-vehicle report card to show the driver’s performance, allowing you to identify issues and help with making driving improvements.
There will also be a number of additional safety features offered on the 2021 Chevy Trailblazers. These will be offered as upgrades, and include lane change alert with side blind zone alert, rear cross-traffic alert, rear park assist, adaptive cruise control-camera, an HD rear vision camera, and On Star safety and security. While many of the standard features address what is happening in front of you and each side of your Trailblazer while you are driving, the focus of the optional features appears to be on when you are putting your vehicle in reverse. Nevertheless, Chevy should be commended for making so many safety features standard on all 2021 Trailblazers, which should make this SUV one of the safest on the road.
Connectivity and Infotainment
If you love being connected in your SUV as much as I do, then you are going to love the standard features on the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer. This includes Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, depending on your smartphone’s connectivity. This will help you and your passengers stay in touch no matter what trails you may blaze in your new SUV. Some Trailblazers will even feature wireless charging pads. This is the latest in smartphone charging technology, allowing you and your passengers to charge up without messing with wires and USB ports. Just place your smartphones on the pads and let your Trailblazer do the rest.
All Trailblazers will feature the award-winning Chevy Infotainment 3 system. This is a wonderful blend of information and entertainment features in an easy-to-use touchscreen. The Chevy Infotainment 3 System helps you stay informed and entertained with a simple touch of the screen, and without being distracted from driving your all-new Trailblazer.
The All-New Trailblazer “Comes in Colors Everywhere”
A fun, sporty SUV like the 2021 Chevy Trailblazer needs colors and accents that bring out the best in this vehicle. Chevrolet has pulled out all the spots here. This new Trailblazer is really like a rainbow. You can choose from Zeus Bronze Metallic with Summit White accents, Summit White with Summit White accents, Summit White with Zeus Bronze Metallic accents, Mosaic Black Metallic with Summit White accents, Mosaic Black Metallic with Zeus Bronze Metallic accents, Iridescent Pearl Tricoat with Zeus Bronze Metallic accents, Satin Steel Metallic with Summit White accents, Midnight Blue Metallic with Summit White accents, and Dark Copper Metallic with Summit White accents.
